Hot-Cold, Wet-Dry: size does matter!

If you have a large piece of equipment or a vehicle that is going to be used in harsh drive in chamber.jpgenvironments, TÜV Product Service’s large drive-in chamber at its Octagon House test facility in Fareham has the size to accommodate it and simulate any extremes of heat, temperature and humidity that it will need to endure.

Widely used by a variety of organisations in the automotive, aerospace, defence, rail and industrial sectors, the drive-in chamber can simulate almost any of the extreme conditions that modern equipment must withstand and is located in one of Europe’s largest and most comprehensive independent environmental test facilities.

It measures 6m x 5m x 4m high, so it can accommodate large pieces of equipment or full-size vehicles, and can simulate extreme environmental conditions controlled over a range of +100°C to -65°C with full control of humidity. These include the heating effect of the sun through the use of an infra-red array, which can provide a heat intensity of up to 1120W/m², and the build-up of ice by using water sprays.

A full range of support services including water, drainage, compressed air, exhaust extraction, electricity at 50, 60 and 400Hz and the provision of cooling air is available to allow the equipment under test to be driven normally in these extreme environmental test conditions.

Tests can be tailored to customer specifications or to international standards and are conducted by engineers widely experienced in environmental testing and product development. This experience and knowledge is available free to our customers throughout their test programme. Computer-controlled monitoring and data collection provide a comprehensive and immediate record of the chamber’s operating parameters, and full records can be delivered on CD at the end of testing for subsequent analysis.

Companies from around the world have benefited from TÜV Product Service’s expertise and facilities, so we would be pleased to demonstrate the chamber’s capabilities and discuss your specific requirements at your convenience.
