Last year was another year of change for TÜV Product Service and BABT with many exciting developments throughout the business. We were the first UK test laboratory to gain UKAS Accreditation for EMC testing to DEF STAN 59-411. We were also one of only three laboratories appointed worldwide as a CATL by the CTIA wireless association of America to test lithium Ion batteries for mobile phones. And we celebrated BABT’s 25 years as the world’s leading telecommunications certification body.

During 2007, we also added significantly to our capabilities, for example by receiving the authorisation to test products with explosive devices at our Fareham facility, and to carry out testing according to the worldwide CB scheme at our Midlands test house at Bearley. We added a FCB appointment from Industry Canada so that BABT can now approve telecommunications equipment for Canada, in addition to Japan, the USA and the EU. And our Radio test lab at Fareham continued to establish itself as the world’s leading facility for testing emergency beacons.

In 2008, we plan to continue with this process of innovation and improvement, and are stepping up our exhibitions programme. So please come and meet us at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, or at InfraRail or IFSEC at the NEC in Birmingham, CTIA Wireless in Las Vegas or at the Farnborough Air Show in June. We shall be exhibiting at all these venues over the coming months and look forward to meeting you there.
