Product Certification
Access to global markets
TÜV Product Service offer many types of product certifications, which result in easier access to global markets. With many consumers, retailers, and distributors looking to differentiate their products our range of certification marks are ideal to re-assure your customers that the product have been independently assessed for compliance.
GS Mark
The GS mark, based on German Safety Law, is widely recognised throughout Europe. It will differentiate your product and provide a strategic marketing advantage to help sell more products. It is particularly important for the German market and independent market research shows that German consumers demand and will pay more for products bearing this certification mark.
TÜV (Product Service) Mark
The TÜV Mark will differentiate your product in the market place and allows you to demonstrate:
- Compliance with necessary legislation
- On-going surveillance in production
- Specific claims about the performance of the product
- Details of your Quality Management System
NRTL Certification (for North America)
We are accredited by OSHA (US Occupational Safety & Health Administration) to offer certification covering US and Canadian requirements. An NRTL Certification will make it easier to sell product and to convince customers and enforcement authorities that you satisfy their minimum safety requirements. We also offer a “field labelling service” for low volume products and machinery.

Factory inspections
Routine factory inspections are required for GS, TÜV and NRTL certification. It is usual practice for the same engineer to carry out both the product testing and factory inspection. This means that your inspector is familiar with the tested products and can assess your factories using a “common sense” approach as opposed to simply carrying out an “ISO” style audit. While on-site, they are also available to help fix problems or suggest ways of streamlining processes and procedures. Click here to download a Factory Inspection Itinerary.
CB Scheme Certification
The CB Scheme covers product safety & EMC (Electro Magnetic Compatibility) and is the widely accepted international system for mutual acceptance of test reports. The CB Scheme is now recognised by over 45 countries and reduces the need to carry out multiple testing. It is formally referred to as “Scheme of the IECEE for Mutual Recognition of Test Certificates for Electrical Equipment (CB scheme)”.
The CB scheme is based around the use of International standards such as:
IEC 60950-1 IEC 60065 IEC 60335-1; -2-x IEC 61010-1 CISPR 22; CISPR 24 | (Safety of Information Technology Equipment) (Safety of Audio, Video, and Similar Equipment) (Safety of Household and Similar Equipment) (Safety of Laboratory, Control and Measurement) (EMC requirements for Information Technology Equipment) |
The following flexible testing options may be possible, depending upon the certification scheme required:
- Testing in our fully equipped laboratory (CBTL)
- Testing at Manufacturers’ Premises (TMP)
- Recognised Manufacturers’ Testing (RMT)
- Witnessed Manufacturers’ Testing (WMT)
